Sevier County Clerk Debbie Akin has released information about the annual school election coming up on May 21, 2019.

January 31st – 1st day for candidates filing by petition to circulate petitions for Annual School Election.

Signatures collected more than 100 days before the election will not be counted. Petitions must contain at least 20 registered voters who are residents of the school district.

De Queen School District

School Board Positions to be voted on in De Queen School District: Zone 1 currently held by Felix “Skip” Bell

School Millage…32.2 (on ballot every year)

Horatio School District

School Board Positions to be voted on in Horatio School District: Zone 2 currently held by Krystal Scott;

At Large Position 1 currently held by Elizabeth Walker.

School Millage…44.0 (on ballot every year)

Filing period for candidates desiring to be placed on the May 21, School Election ballot is from 12:00 noon on February 13 – 12:00 noon on February 20. Candidates must file a petition of candidacy, affidavit of eligibility, and political practices pledge with the County Clerk.

The County Clerk will certify the candidates to the Sevier County Election Commission and Ballot Draw will be conducted, if necessary, on February 21 at 1:00 P.M.
